Calgary police seek help identifying suspect in Fish Creek Park sexual assaults

Calgary police are asking for public assistance to identify a suspect linked to three reported Fish Creek Park sexual assaults that occurred in April and May 2026. The force says the incidents involved female joggers near Mallard Point and the Sue Higgins Bridge, and investigators believe the encounters may be connected. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.

Three incidents reported to police

Calgary police confirmed three separate reports of sexual assault in Fish Creek Park, two on April 20 and a third on May 23. All three victims were female and were using park paths for jogging when they were approached by a man, police said in a briefing.

Investigators noted similarities between the incidents that suggest a possible link, including the locations within the park and the behaviour described by the victims. Detectives continue to treat the cases as active investigations and are examining whether the same person was responsible for all three events.

Suspect descriptions and appearance

Officers described the suspect from the May 23 report as a light-skinned male in his late teens, about six feet tall, with short, shaggy blond hair. He was said to be riding a black BMX bicycle and wearing blue jeans with a black hoodie featuring a colourful graphic on the side.

Descriptions from the April 20 incidents differed in some particulars but shared key elements that have guided investigators. Witnesses reported a male on an e-scooter wearing black pants and a red hooded sweatshirt, carrying a white backpack with colourful spots and playing music from a portable speaker while riding.

Timeline and locations of the reported attacks

On April 20 police say two assaults occurred within roughly 20 minutes of one another near Mallard Point, with one incident taking place around 5:10 p.m. and the second about 5:30 p.m. Officers indicated the suspect may have been watching a woman near the park’s on-site washrooms shortly before one of the attacks. One of the April incidents included the suspect traveling away from the park toward the Douglasdale area on the e-scooter.

The most recent report came on May 23 at approximately 2:30 p.m., when a jogger reported being assaulted in the area between the Sue Higgins Bridge and Mallard Point. Police say that account involved a man approaching from behind while on a bicycle, and they are investigating whether that description aligns with the April encounters.

How police are asking the public to help

Calgary police are urging anyone who was in Fish Creek Park on April 20 or May 23 and may have seen suspicious behaviour to contact them immediately. Investigators are particularly interested in photographs, video footage, dash-cam or helmet-cam recordings and any other information that could identify the person seen on the e-scooter or bicycle. Tips can be directed to the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234.

Authorities also reminded the public that anonymous information can be provided through Crime Stoppers, and they asked witnesses who have not yet come forward to do so. Officers stressed that even small details or a single sighting could prove crucial in confirming the suspect’s identity and movement through the park.

Community safety and support for victims

Local running groups and regular park users have been advised to exercise caution while authorities pursue leads in the Fish Creek Park sexual assaults. Safety recommendations from victim-support organizations include running with a partner, varying routes, carrying a charged phone, and informing someone of planned routes and expected return times.

Those affected by the incidents are encouraged to contact police and to seek support from community sexual assault and crisis services. Calgary-area resources and counselling services can provide immediate emotional support and help survivors navigate reporting options and medical care when needed.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing and that detectives are following up on leads generated since the first reports in April. Anyone with information that could assist the inquiry is urged to call the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234 or to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
