Suspects identified and charged
Investigators identified the suspects as 35-year-old Fort McMurray residents Jeremy Lacorde and Leighton Haineault following an initial search and subsequent inquiries.
Haineault faces charges that include robbery with a firearm — accessory after the fact — and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Lacorde is charged with robbery with a firearm, multiple assault counts, two counts of theft under $5,000 and failing to comply with a release order, according to the RCMP.

According to the RCMP, two armed men forced entry into a Gregoire Lake Reserve home in the pre-dawn hours on July 9, 2026.
The suspects assaulted the resident at gunpoint and demanded the victim’s phone and money before fleeing the scene.
Witnesses or neighbours reported a black side-by-side off-road vehicle leaving the property, which became a key detail in the early stages of the investigation.

Mounties conducted an extensive search of the area immediately after the call but were unable to locate the suspects, the RCMP said.
